A combined experimental and theoretical approach to the identification of local processes in pool boiling of isopropanol is presented. Here we analyze local temperature measurements inside the heater to identify local heat transfer patterns at the surface of the heater. Microthermosensors were developed and arranged to measure the near-surface temperature field inside the heater. This technique allows measurements of the heater temperature fluctuations caused by the boiling process with good spatial and temporal resolution. In order to evaluate the real surface conditions, a 3D-FEM-model was employed to generate a 3D-inverse-heat-conduction solver for the measured data. Results are presented for a boiling setpoint in steady-state transition boiling.
