New COALlink RADIO system based on gam technology - aspects of automation and control

The required renewal fo the COALlink train and maintenance/management support communication system recently provided an opportunity for Spoornet to investigate the use of public domain communication networks and services in this application. The public domain GSM technology route was selected after thorough evaluation. However, significant additional automation and control had to be added to the chosen system in order for hte system to meet the user needs and train control safety requirements.
