SEGREGATION-FREE IRON POWDER WITH IMPROVED FLOWABILITY CONTAINING WAX LUBRICANT

A new segregation-free iron-based powder with wax lubricant, CLEAN MIX (KWAX-B), was developed to improve flowability and suppress adhesion of the lubricant to the inner parts of the tube conveyor during transportation. The flow rate of the newCLEAN MIX(KWAX-B) is lower by 0.5 s/100g than that of the conventional segregation-free iron-based powder with wax lubricant, CLEAN MIX (KWAX-A), and the index of flow blocking is smaller by 62%. Very little lubricant adhered to the inner parts of the screw conveyor during transportation of CLEAN MIX (KWAX-B). On the other hand, lubricant adhered during transportation of the conventional segregation-free iron-based powder with wax lubricant. The powder characteristics, such as compressibility, Rattler value, and ejection force of the new CLEAN MIX (KWAX-B), and the mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, Charpy impact value, and dimensional change of sintered steel products made from the new powder are almost equal to those of the conventional segregation-free iron-based powder with wax lubricant.
