Donor-acceptor conjugated polymer systems have been widely studied for their potential applications as transparent conductors, light-emitting diodes, photovoltaic cells, and field effect transistors. Alternating copolymers, polymer blends, and multilayers represent three different classes of donor-acceptor conjugated polymer systems. We are particular interested in the alternating copolymer system since it can tune the electronic and optoelectronic properties efficiently by intramolecular charge transfer. However, a comprehensive theoretical analysis on acceptor structure-electronic property relationship has not been fully explored.
