In today's atmosphere of terrorism, it has become increasingly important for society, as a whole, to be able to rapidly and efficiently detect the presence of nerve gas agents like Sarin, Soman, and VX. The 1995 Sarin attacks on the Tokyo subway system proved that the use of organophosphonate nerve gas agents by non-governmental organizations is possible, but that is only the tip of the iceberg.
