Aromatic heterocyclic rigid-rod polymers,broadly referred to as benzobisazoles or PBX polymers,have been known for their exceptional mechanical strength and high thermal stability and have proven potential for many high performance structural applications.The general drawback,however,associated with these materials is their lack of processability in solvents other than corrosive acids such as methanesulfonic acid and concentrated sulfuric acid.
