Conventional chelating resins usually have the cross-linking structure with hydrophobic polystyrene skeleton1,,and they were 2 widely adopted as metal ionic extracting agent and catalyst etc for its excellent performance in water resistance,solvent resistance and stability. However,since these resins were insoluble for any organic solvent owing to their cross-linking structure,so they can only be used in the form of powder state or swelling state and the adsorption properties of resins in the form of solution can not be investigated. Therefore,a series of the linear polyether chelating resins with polyepichlorohydrin main chain were designed and synthesized,which have pendent biphenyl groups with (or without) terminal pyrrolyl ligand. These resins have some properties of rigidity and water resistance for rigid biphenyl groups in side chains. Moreover,these linear polyether chelating resins can be dissolved into some appropriate organic solvents (e.g. chloroform),this property facilitated the investigation on the adsorption properties of resins in the form of solution state. Relative to the conventional adsorption of resins in the form of solid state,resin in solution was existed in the form of molecular dispersion state,so its adsorption capacity was expected to be increased.
