The Poly (DL-lactic acid)-Poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO-PLA) is synthesized with lactic acid and by the method of direct melt polycondensation and the reaction temperature, pressure, time and catalyst of the process are studied to synthesis the diblock copolymers, and the changes of the reaction conditions are also discussed to fix on the optimization. The structure and molecular weight are tested with gel permeation chromatography and IR spectrum. The results show the method of direct melt polycondensation is an effective, low cost and short production period method to produce PEO-PLA.
