摘要

The materials chemistry community is becoming proficient in the synthesis of nano- and microscale building blocks with impressive control over the composition and shapes of such structures. Straightforward methods for assembling such structures into preconceived and well-defined two- and three-dimensional architectures have not yet been developed. In this presentation, methods for controlling the assembly of one dimensional nanowires into functional microscopic structures will be discussed. The properties of such structures and their utility in applications ranging from biomolecule separation to electronics will be discussed.
