For most technical applications of pigments and fillers a highly dispersed state of the particles is necessary in order to achieve optimal physical and application properties in the final coatings product.Stabilizers are employed in order to avoid agglomeration and flocculation of particles,and the principles of electrostatic,steric and electrostatic stabilization of pigments provide the theoretical basis for the design and optimal application of stabilizers.
