Characteristics of smoke particles mitted from combustion of mixed fuel of pulverized lignite coal and rice husk were investigated experimentally. Particle mass concentration and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in size fractionated particles were investigated for different mixing ratios along with the TG/DTA analysis of the mixed fuels. The number concentration of emitted particles during TG/DTA analysis was also evaluated using SMPS to discuss the emission behavior of ultrafme particles. Fine particles (< 500 nm) were found to be generated at the temperature range of 200 ~ 350 °C. Amounts of particles and PAHs emitted from rice husk combustion were much larger than lignite coal 3~40 % of particles and more than 70% of PAHs were included in particles < 0.43 μm. The fuel mixing rate did not affect significantly the particle size distribution and seems to have a linear contribution on the emitted particle mass although the emitted PAHs mass is rather sensitive to the mixing ratio.
