Efficient File Sharing in Unstructured P2Ps with the Aid of Circulation of Summary Lists

In this paper, we propose a new paradigm for long-termed file exploration over Peer-to-Peer (P2P) file sharing systems. The basic idea of our approach is to explicitly record the outcome of file exploration in the form of a summary list, and to propagate it over the P2P overlay to accelerate an adequate clustering of peers to attain a quick localization of target files via query flooding controlled by Time-to-Live (TTL). The proposed P2P overlay contains two types of communication links, i.e., random links and intentional links, where intentional links reflect the interest of users to the outcome of file exploration. We implemented a prototype system of the proposed architecture using JXTA framework.
