EGG shell powder-a substitute for conventional filler in PVC composites

Historically, the use of fillers in a given polymer started almost, as early as commercial use of the polymers. The use of carbon black as a reinforcing agent in elastomers, early in the century, was a major factor in the development of durable automobile tyres and similar products. Now a day, it is established that fillers are important to control density, rigidity and degradation of plastics. They bring about same degree of reinforcing action to the polymers. Certain fillers reduce the coefficient of expansion and shrinkage of the moulding and thus help control the melt viscosity of resins during processing. The major reason for use of fillers has been cost reduction, though in many cases, they are found to impart special properties to the compound.
