A methodology for optimally designing composite structures subject to fatigue loads

The use of composites is increasing. This is mainly due to the high strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratios these materials afford. Many composite structures are routinely subjected to cyclic loading regimes, and though the applied stresses may be low, failure can occur due to fatigue.
