The purpose of this paper is to develop a new type of contact cable with high-strength as well as high electrical conductivity. Cu-Cr alloy series are select as researchable materials and Cu-Cr alloy castings are so produced by means of directional solidification continuous casting (DSCC) process that the fibrillar strengthening phase, β-Cr, orderly arranges among the cooper matrix phase along the direction of axis. This forms a microstructure of in-situ composite, which retains the basic property of good conductivity of cooper matrix and meanwhile obtains the strengthening effects of phase β-Cr. The technology of the production of in-situ composite contact cables and its mechanical property, electrical property and synthetic property are discussed in the paper.
