In the present investigations, the effect of high temperature extended argon arc plasma (EAPR) treatment on the graphitization of calcined petroleum coke (CPC) and associated microstructural changes are studied. The optical microscopic studies on high temperature plasma treated CPC showed presence of ordered and flaky graphite. The resistivity of the CPC sample plasma treated for 45 minutes was found to be 0.025 W cm. The XRD studies on plasma treated samples showed peaks corresponding to graphite.
