Compression of Oil-Well Logging Data with a SDT Method

摘要

The main purposes of oil-well logging data compression are to reduce data redundancy and relevance, and to simplify the feature extraction of logging curves, as well as to reduce storage memory. The paper introduces a kind of piecewise linear trending algorithm-Swinging Door Trending(SDT) to oil-well logging data compression. The essence of the algorithm is piecewise linear interpolation. The experiment results demonstrate that this method is quite suitable for oil-well logging data compression. Though it is somewhat no better than signal transform compression, the method has high operation speed and is easy to implement in practice.
