Reference farms for pesticide use and state of IPM implementation in arable farming

The German Action Plan for Reduction of Pesticide Use, starting in 2007, includes the establishment of a network of reference farms. These farms will provide reference data on the behaviour of farmers in relation to plant protection, and will deliverdata on the intensity of pesticide use (as defined using the treatment frequency index (TFI)) and on the minimum need for pesticides in defined regions.
