摘要

The aim of structural assessment of a damaged structure is to determine the current safety level of its performance, and the remaining service life of the structure obtained by means of its comparison with a previously-determined minimum technical performance. Depending on several factors as the availability of data or the scope of the work, different levels of precision could be chosen for the assessment. In any case, the methodology for this structural assessment must include the relationship between corrosion and its structural effects. How and how much corrosion has affected the steel and concrete are two key questions of this process. The availability of devices as GECOR6 that allows a quantitative knowledge of the corrosion rate has become a very important tool to determine the relationship between corrosion and the structural performance of the damaged structure. Both simple and detailed methodologies for assessing corrosion-damaged structures are presented in this paper.
