Operating experience with a blast furnace gas fired combined-cycle power plant

Several industries with waste gases as by-products are interested to improve their overall heat balance to reduce their electricity and energy consumption. Blast furnace gas a low Btu gas from the steel production, is mostly fired in conventional boilers and often to mixed with higher calorific gases. Since recently it is being used in a high efficient combined-cycle power plant as main fuel. In this paper the operating experience after 3 years base load operation of the Bao Shan combined-cycle power plant (CCPP) is discussed. The results of the recent major gas turbine inspection are presented.
