A cost effective alternative to Archimedean screw pumps

The paper describes a system that exhibits the same desirable characteristics as Archimedean screw pumps and at the same time offers solutions to many of the problems associated with these pumps. The main claim for the alternative system is that it substantially reduces the costs of building the pump station [civils and machinery] and addresses many of the operational problems. The system is based on using screw centrifugal impeller pumps operating with pre-swirl flow control to match station output to inflow.
