John pier wastewater pumping station: a case study

John Pier Pumping Station is a new facility serving the town of Workington in Cumbria with a population equivalent of 29,000. The pumping station is the central component of an integrated system for the collection and management of wastewater derived from the existing sewerage system of Workington. This paper discusses various aspects of the pumping station design and the selection of the major plant elements.
