Great Man-made river pump stations

The Great Man-made River Project (GMRP) in Libya is the World's largest water supply project. The first two phases will deliver approximately 4.5 million cubic metres of water per day (MCMD) from wells in the desert to the coastal regions. Phase II includes four large pump stations that assist in conveying the water to the coast. This water is intended for municipal, industrial and agricultural use. A large proportion of this water is then further pumped to supply reservoirs, or directly to farms. The paper describes the pump stations and the features taken into account in their design.
