摘要

The presence of akaganeite (β-FeOOH) in the rust layer is considered as the main reason for severe atmospheric corrosion of steel in marine environment, which can accelerate the corrosion rate of steel and deteriorates the protective ability of the rust layer. In the long-term atmospheric corrosion, steel subjected to a great deal of wet-dry cycles. Although substantial studies were concentrated on the conditions of akaganeite formation, few of them paid attentions to the effects of repeated wet-dry cycles to its formation. Therefore, the main objectives of this work are to investigate these effects, which can contribute to the formation mechanism of akaganeite.
