In this paper, a new method for evaluating the ductile earthquake responses of bridges is developed. The study is based on the assumption that the ductile response of bridge structures is related to the linear response and the variation of the linear response can cover the non-linear one. A large amount of computation are done by considering different spans, pier heights, section sizes, site conditions, as well as earthquake intensity. It is proved that the assumption is in accordance with the results of the statistic analysis. A simplified method, which evaluates ductile seismic responses according to the linear analysis, is proposed.
