THE FIRST USE OF HEC-5 IN FLOOD ANALYSIS IN TURKEY

The DSI personnel in the Adana province were able to release the 100-year flood from the small Seyhan dam without a loss of life. The lack of an early warning system forced engineers to use their experience during the flood. Since the construction of the Catalan dam was finished in 1997, the 500-year flood can be released from the two dams without causing any property damage. The use of the HEC-5 program package can be useful for planning flood prevention measures during critical seasons.
