Liquid Diets Proposed Since 1950s. Back in 1957 when John M. Snyder was look-ing ahead to "Broiler Nutrition 1960" (Everybody's Poultry Magazine, Hanover, PA, June issue), he stated that "recently, liquid feeding has loomed high on the nutritional horizon. People get their food from drinks they consume. They drink milk. They put sugar in their coffee. Chickens could benefit if they could 'drink their food' as well as eat it. Sounds good but there is one major drawback. Water soluble nutrients are expensive -- much more expensive than the feed kind."
