Implementing Liquid Ingredients in a Feedmill

In the traditional feedmill, the bulk of ingredients and additives are dry and granular. In number of ingredients as well as weighted proportion, this industry is a dry material handling industry. However, there are many ingredients and additives that are available as liquids. These tend to be smaller in number and smaller in proportion. The most common liquid ingredients and additives found today are molasses, fats and oils, amino acids, mold inhibitors, anti-oxidants and grain conditioners. Less commonly used, but showing more acceptance are flavors, vitamins and enzymes. The common liquid ingredients are considered minor or micro ingredients because of their low inclusion. Most are used at proportions less than 10 percent and many at proportions less that 1 percent. Major ingredients include the grains, protein meals and other ingredients that each make up at least 10 percent of the total formulation, many grains and cereals as much as 60 or 70 percent.
