ADVANCED SIMULATIONS FOR AN ADVANCED SAILING TRIMARAN

The LAMU III is a high-performance sailing trimaran. The unconventional design and construction in composite materials made a first-principle design approach mandatory. Seakeeping analyses, based on fully nonlinear free-surface CFD code, determined loads on the hull. Finite element analyses used these loads to determine stresses and guide the structural design.
