Maintaining relative humidity in the range of 30% to 60% in building results in many advantages, such as improved comfort and reduced health risks. However, for residences in humid and hot environments, it is difficulty to maintain these conditions all year. During the hot and humid weather characteristic of Taiwan, indoor relative humidity exceeds ASHRAE comfort limits in a prototypical residence when a conventional air-conditioning system is thermostatically controlled to provide comfort. The so-called "green material" which can absorb moisture in high humid level and release it in low level is adopted in this research for validation.
