Rural Nevada communities have experienced as many as five major boom and bust cycles over the past century all linked to the price of gold and silver. Providing the highest level of water service to rural Nevadans is an ongoing challenge. This presentation describes Nevada's efforts to informally organize its regulatory agencies, funders, technical assistance providers, water and wastewater utility professionals, and community leaders to assist small utilities. The informal working group, Infrastructure for Nevada Communities, has initiated the streamlining of environmental documentation; coordinated funding sources, and reviewed engineering costs to better serve the diverse needs of rural Nevada. An up-to-the-minute photographic expose' of five rural Nevada Communities follows the discussion of the INC process.
