The Forsmark 1 BWR simulator is undergoing an upgrade of the RCS thermal-hydraulics and core with the RELAP5-R/T product from Data Systems & Solutions (DS&S) and the SIMULATE-3R (S3R) product from Studsvik, Scandpower (SSP). The scope of the simulation is the entire reactor vessel, the reactor core and incore instrumentation and thermal margins, the steam lines from the vessel through the steam dump valves and the turbine control valves, the steam line drains, and the safety relief system from the steam lines through the connection to the suppression pool. Forsmark 1 is an ASEA-ATOM BWR with 676 fuel, assemblies, four steam lines, and two turbines. This paper will discuss the integration of the RELAP5-R/T model with the S3R core model. This is the first implementation of RELAP5-R/T and S3R on any simulator. The RELAP5-R/T model will calculate all the thermalhydraulic responses in the model and the nodal feedback parameters for use by the S3R product to calculate the power response of the core due to thermal-hydraulic feedback.
