VERIFYING THE CORE MODEL OF A BOILING WATER REACTOR SIMULATOR

The Perry Nuclear Power Plant has recently gone through an extensive upgrade to the site simulator. The new simulator is capable of modelling the core of the reactor in much more detail than the old simulator and is capable-of modelling cycle-specific core designs. A set of benchmarks has been performed to verify the applicability of the new core model. This paper discusses the verification process and reviews some of the physical characteristics that the core model of a nuclear power plant simulator mustbe able to reproduce.
