Composite materials are made from two or more kinds of materials, such as combination of glass fiber and polyester and so on. The machining of these materials becomes very difficult due to the differences of properties between the reinforcing materials and matrix materials. For getting good surface finish in cutting of Aramid Fiber Reinforced Plastics, fiber in the material must be fractured at the point of contact with cutting edge. However, the point of fracture varies with the mechanical properties of FRP, fiber angle, angle of cutting edge and cutting condition. In this study, we investigated the relationship between surface and the behavior of fiber during cutting by normal cutting and oblique cutting. Then, we observed behavior of fiber in dynamically during cutting and simulated phenomena with a very simple model to evaluate the deformation of Aramid fiber during cutting. It is based on Dr. Timoshenko's theory of beams on the elastic foundation.
