The stress wave propagation behaviors under tensile loading conditions are investigated for unidirectional GFRP laminates. In order to obtain these propagation behaviors, a simple experimental technique has been developed. In this technique, the time series of stress waves are measured from surface strain gages. After impact, it is demonstrated that flexural waves containing various wavelengths are induced. The velocities of these flexural waves are calculated for various tensile loading conditions. Results show that the wave velocity increases with increasing of the applied stress. Also, a study about the location of peak strain ε{sub}x is carried out based on above results.
