In order to obtain an optimal design of golf clubs, this paper presents vibrational properties of CFRP filament winding (FW) golf clubs. The deflections and twist angles of three kinds of FW golf clubs are measured by the flexural and torsional tests and these experimental results agree well with ones by a FEM and by the lamination theory. Next, natural frequencies of FW golf clubs are obtained by using the flexural and torsional rigidities in the FEM calculations. These results also show a good agreement with the experimental ones obtained by a vibrational test. Furthermore, a steel shaft is else examined to compare with CFRP results.
