To clarify momentum transports between creek and swamp in a mangrove estuary, we have performed field observations and a 3-D numerical simulation with a new multi-nesting approach at Fukido River in the Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, Japan. The measured results revealed that the temporal and spatial variations of the momentum transports between the creek and swamp appear noticeably due to horizontal current patterns in the mangrove swamp, which is closely related to the tidal oscillation. The computational results for the 3-D flow structure around the creek give qualitative agreements with the observed results.
