Urban Seismic Disaster Reduction and Sustainable Development

摘要

Earthquake, which can not be controlled at present, is one of the most serious natural disasters for human beings. China has suffered the most serious seismic disasters. With the development of urbanization of China, the urban seismic problem seems important increasingly. Seismic disaster reduction is an important guarantee for urban sustainable development. In this paper, discussions focus on the problems of policies and technologies that should be solved in the urban seismic disaster reduction. To improve the urban seismic capacity efficiently, high-grade and new technology should be utilized fully. The application of such technology as vibration control, structural health monitoring and performance based seismic design is also discussed.
