Planar-flow casting (PFC) (melt-spinning or spin-casting) produces flat product by forcing molten metal onto a moving substrate (spinning wheel) where it solidifies and leaves as a ribbon. Figure 1 is a schematic of the gap between the nozzle and the wheel where heat and momentum fluxes dominate.
