Sheet metal forming at high velocities has been shown to have several significant advantages over traditional quasi-static sheet metal forming. For example formability is improved and wrinkling can be minimized. This paper does two distinct things in two separate parts. First we describe a vision of how electromagnetically augmented sheet metal forming may solve many current practical problems in metal forming. Second we address one key aspect of this -- the development and validation of numerical models. In particular we show that the GEM code of ARA, is consistent with many experimental observations.
