Proceedings of group discussion and recommendations: Extension pathology

摘要

The convenor at the outset highlighted the importance of Extension Pathology and need for efficient transfer of generated technology. He introduced the subject inviting the attention of various participants on several issues which included plant clinic, rational use of pesticides - training and education, identification of integrated disease management (IDM) modules - their demonstration in designated IDM villages, and information and communication system for efficient transfer of technology. Severalscientist including Drs. A.C. Verma and R.V. Singh from NDUAT, Faizabad, India; Drs. Ahmad and Ban from Bangladesh; Drs. Thakur and Mathur from ICRISAT; Dr. Satrughan Pandy, IISR, Lucknow; Dr. R.P. Singh, CPRI, Modipuram and Dr. G. Dor, Junagarh actively participated in this discussion. The following recommendations aminated from discussion: 1. The group strongly felt the need for establishing plant polyclinic (facilitating on the spot diagnosis of diseases besides insect injury and ailments due to abiotic stresses) on the pattern of hospitals attached with medical and veterinary colleges. The group also recommended provision of even mobile clinic as an extension of polyclinic which could be seasonal in approach and may be deployed in the season when there is severe outbreak of disease(s). Mobile clinic may carry diagnostic facilities kits and also video films related to this problem which can be screened in late evening hours for mass education of the rural peasantry when they are free from theirdomestic work.
