Integrated management of sesame diseases

摘要

Sesame crop suffers due to several diseases which are seed and soil borne like seed and seedking rot, root and stem rot, wilt, foliar spot and blight due to fungal and bactrial, phyllody due to mycoplama, leaf curl due to virus. The magnitude of losses due to diseases is enormous when weather conditions are favourable. Attempts have been made for mtergrated management to eradicate the pathogen and to use of apropriate chemicals at suitable time, cultureal practices and biological control. A number ofresistant/tolerant varieties have been evolved and useful cultural practices and need based use of fungicides have been worked out under the All India Coordinated Research Project on Sesame.
