In hydraulic model testing with moving floors in most cases it is very important to know the surface geometry as detailed as possible. The Laboratory of the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering of the Vienna University of Technology compared two measuring devices and their results: an ultrasonic sensor and a laser-optic distance sensor based on the triangulation principle.
