Artificial passivation films are corrosion-resistant oxide thin films that simulate passive films on corrosion-resistant alloys. The thickness of the films is usually adjusted to 10 - 50 nm. It is, therefore, hard to evaluate the corrosion-resistance of the films by conventional techniques.
