To improve the performance of odor sensor capabilities, we focus on the sensor based on biological phenomena. An odor sensing system using insect olfactory receptor (OR) has a potential for a portable and high performance sensor [1]. This type of sensor is constructed based on Sf21 cells expressing insect OR and fluorescence protein. However, the signal due to the fluorescence is very weak compared with the ambient light. One of the techniques to obtain the optical signal buried under the ambient light is the lock-in measurement technique to the sensor system [2]. This paper presents our experiments on applying the lock-in technique to the measurement of fluorescent signal under the high intensity of ambient light.
