Lessons Learned by Industry Groups in Performing Hazard Assessments to Satisfty the Requirements of EPA's Management Program Rule

During the past 3 years, the ABS Group Inc. Risk & Reliability Division (ABS Group) has worked with companies in various regions of the country that have formed industry groups to address the challenge of complying with the requirements of EPA's risk management program (RMP) rule (40 CFR 68). Four such groups include the East Harris County Manufacturers Association in Houston, Texas; the Petrochemical Safety Alliance in Texas City, Texas; the Jefferson County RMP Group in Louisville, Kentucky; and the Calvert City RMP Group in Calvert City, Kentucky. ABS Group has also provided RMP compliance assistance to many other facilities not specifically associated with local industry groups. Collectively, ABS Group has worked with over 130 facilities in a variety of industry sectors, including the chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, pulp and paper, automotive, plastics, and power generation industries, just to name a few.
