Machines and the computer network at the post office

The French Post Office installed over 6000 machines in its post offices (Stamp machines, self-service franking machines and change machines). It wants to offer the public a group of machines in good working order and propose payment by banker'scard on its postal machines. In 1996, a study was initiated by the Post Office's technical research department to analyse the requirement and propose a connection architecture. The first machines begin operating in Post offices and the initial results are encouraging.
