Automated System for Pressure Transmitter Calibration

This paper describes the characteristics of a new system for automatic calibration of pressure transmitters. The system consists of an off-the-shelf pressure transmitter calibration unit and a laptop personal computer (PC) that is programmed to control the test, customize the calibration process, generate a report of the calibration, and store the calibration data for trending purposes. The system improves the accuracy of pressure transmitter calibrations and significantly reduces the time that is normally required to perform a calibration. It is useful in all applications which involve calibration of a large number of pressure transmitters. This includes fossil, chemical, and nuclear plants. This paper focuses on the benefits of the system for nuclear power plants.
