Shotcrete trials and applications in poor ground conditions at Mount Isa Mines

Mount Isa Mines conducted a series of shotcretetrials and used shotcrete for poor ground conditions from 1994to 1997. The trials and application were extensively monitoredand the monitoring results provided considerable information onthe quality and performance of shoterete. The shoterete trialsand the applications have proved that shoterete is a veryeffective ground support method in very poor ground conditionsand under severe mining induced dynamic and static loadings(mass blasts and stress changes). A number of logistic andquality control issues were identified to improve the quality andperformance of shotcrete.
