An investigation was conducted to study the sorption behavior of TCE in clay and high organic matter containing soils. Sorption of TCE was three fold higher in organic matter amended loamy sand than in sandy clay loam. Bio-degradation of TCE in liquid cultures was evaluated by using white rot fungi (P. chrysosporium and T. versicolor) through respironmetric analysis. Higher biomass and O2 uptake was observed for P. chrysosporium than T. versicolor. In 20 days both white-rot fungi degraded 50 to 60% of TCE in liquid cultures.
